The Terrace

We have one rule: if we don't like and use it ourselves, we don't stock it! And we do only like quality food. It's not necessarily the most expensive, (although quality does cost a little more) - but it is top of its class. To give you an idea of what we like, here is a brief list of highlights (keep checking back for more as we update our lines all the time).

Cowman's Clitheroe Sausages: also recommended by Rick Stein - Cowman's butchers are a family firm now into their fifth generation. They have a countrywide reputation for quality and flavour. Cowman's use only high quality fresh local meat and use ONLY that meat in their sausages. As they say, in their sausages, pork means pork, beef means beef, and lamb means lamb! The seasonings are specially prepared by the owner on the premises. Cowman's have specialised in sausages since 1968. Marcus's family are from Lancashire and he can swear that these are the best you can get!  

Clippy's Apples: Michelle McKenna produces her amazing range of apple jams and preserves in Sale, Cheshire. Only traditional methods and ingredients are used to produce some of the most authentically fruity jams and jellies you will ever have tasted. We are proud to stock Clippy's, and only hope that our stock lasts long enough to let our customers get hold of some too!

Richard Woodall Cumberland Hams, Bacon and Sausages: Run from the Cumbrian village of  of Waberthwaite, Richard Woodall is one of the oldest family businesses still in existence. The company, currently run by 7th and 8th generation family members, is renowned for its much acclaimed, traditionally cured hams, bacon and sausages.

Eddisbury Fruit Farms Apple Juices: Traditionally produced fruit juices from just down the road at Yeld Lane, Eddisbury! We are sure that this local company's produce should need no introduction, but if you haven't yet come across it, come down to the shop and try it out!

Friendly Food and Drink Sauces and Preserves: We came across this great little family producer when we were in the Lake District for a fell-race a few months ago. Based in Staveley (near Windermere), they make an excellent range of flavoursome sauces, pickles, jams and marmalades which simply taste great!  Do come along and try some out - all are glucose and gluten free.

Katie's Proper Pate: Katie produces her free-range Chicken Liver Pate every week, just down the road in Wilmslow! It's free from any kind of additives, artificial/"nature identical" rubbish flavourings, and tastes just great. Available in two varieties - with Armagnac, or Cointreau and Orange. Trust us, you won't get better!

Cheshire Brie: Made with Guernsey milk direct from Tarporley, it's a local product that somehow manages to out-do a lot of French Brie! Delivered to us fresh every week - feel free to keep it for a while to let the flavours develop - buy one for now, one for later maybe?!  

Tastes of Andalucia: This wonderful range of produce from Southern Spain comes to us courtesy of Jonathon in Macclesfield. We have intensely flavoursome estate Olive Oil and Oak-Aged vinegar, serrano hams, salami and chorizo, tapas, sweet olive jam, fruit sweetmeats and a devlishly delicious syrup made from the Pedro Ximinez grape.

Italian Foods: We have Parmeggiano, Pecorino, Mortadella, Salami, Arborio Rice, De Cecco pasta, some wonderful olive oils, truffle oil, vinegar, Spelt crackers, capers, tomatoes.... come in and get the REAL THING for your Mediterranan style cookery!  

Our own sandwiches and salads: We make these fresh on the premises, for you. We will use the same high-quality ingredients in our sandwiches as you see for sale in the shop - no cheap substitutions, no bought-in sandwiches made in a factory, no pre-mixed fillings!
